Funding roadmap · reviewed September 17, 2026

Restore the bleachers now.
Build a stronger funding base.

This working page separates actionable opportunities from requests, closed programs and ideas that still need eligibility review. Nothing here is a promised or secured award.

Five board decisions that unlock the work

  1. Confirm the numbers.Installed bleacher quote and actual gifts or commitments with Debbie.
  2. Name a board lead. One authorized person to own applications, sponsor terms and records.
  3. Document the impact.Youth participation, event days, annual attendance and visitor origin.
  4. Build the file.Current nonprofit identity, IRS letter, deed, financials, quote and approved photos.
  5. Phase the plan.Cost each future improvement and pursue a lead local pledge or match with agreed terms.

Priority opportunities

Best next conversations

Status labels reflect research, not funding decisions.

01

Local business sponsors & major donors

Actionable outreach strategy

Bleacher purchase and installation, an independently documented match, or in-kind materials and labor.

Watch for

This is a recommended strategy, not an offered award. Cash and in-kind commitments must be recorded separately.

Next step

Approve the project budget and sponsor recognition terms, then approach existing rodeo sponsors, builders, banks, agricultural suppliers and community families.

02

BABA Foundation request

Submitted · award unconfirmed

$30,000 requested toward the planning estimate for bleacher replacement.

Watch for

The September 2026 receipt acknowledgment is not an award. Do not count this request as money raised.

Next step

Confirm award status with Debbie or Casey and replace the planning estimate with the current installed quote.

03

Florida capital appropriation

Pursue sponsor · next cycle

A costed capital phase such as bleachers, accessibility, restrooms or drainage.

Watch for

Arcadia's $1 million FY2026–27 document is a request, not proof of approval or payment. The next filing deadline is not yet posted.

Next step

Package one measurable phase and discuss sponsorship with the arena's current Florida House and Senate delegation.

04

Florida agriculture facility program

Eligibility review first

Livestock, equestrian and agricultural education facilities may fit the statutory purpose.

Watch for

Applicants must be a local government or qualifying fair association, document more than 25,000 annual visitors and contribute more than 40%. Nonprofit status alone does not establish eligibility; privately owned facilities are restricted.

Next step

Before preparing for the statutory October 1 deadline, ask FDACS and Lee County whether the organization and property can meet the requirements.

05

Lee County CDBG capital improvements

Prior round closed

Potential accessibility, safety or public-facility improvements, subject to County review.

Watch for

The listed 2025 round closed June 9, 2025. A project must document low- and moderate-income benefit; serving youth by itself does not prove eligibility. Work cannot begin before the required notice to proceed.

Next step

Request a project-fit conversation with Lee County Human & Veteran Services and ask about the next round.

Useful comparison

Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo

A model for stacking capital, donors and revenue.

Arcadia's official $1 million state request describes a phased community and agricultural facility project, measurable benefits, and event and rental income for ongoing upkeep. Its website also promotes a donor match. The lesson for Lee County is the structure — not an assumption that the same funders or amounts apply.

Arcadia's Flanzer matching partner ordinarily serves Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto counties. Lee County is outside its published area. Use this as inspiration to find a local match sponsor.

Watchlist

Keep ready, don't count yet

2026 closed

Kubota Hometown Proud

Past program included $25,000 cash plus a $25,000 equipment voucher and specifically mentioned arena and fairground renovations. Watch future announcements; verify nonprofit, representative and dealer-distance rules.

Next: Prepare a grounds or equipment concept.
2026 closed

Lowe's Community Impact

Physical improvements to nonprofit community spaces can fit generally, but no future round or Posse eligibility is confirmed.

Next: Keep a public-serving renovation concept ready.
Next cycle: Apr. 2027

Lee County TDC event marketing

Reimbursement may support eligible promotion of multi-day nonprofit events that generate hotel nights — not bleacher construction.

Next: Track visitor origins and room nights.
County screening

Hazard mitigation

No current open Helene window was verified. Future-risk reduction may fit eligible nonprofit projects through the County process; routine replacement is not automatically reimbursable.

Next: Screen wind-hardening or drainage measures.
Relationship / fit screening

Collaboratory

The current $50,000 Community Infrastructure grant focuses on housing, transportation affordability, food environment or internet access, making stand-alone bleachers a weak match.

Next: Ask about donor-directed or future youth opportunities.

Fundraising discipline

One number for the public. Clear categories behind it.

Track cash received, written pledges, restricted gifts, awarded grants and in-kind support separately. The public progress meter should follow a board-approved rule and never include pending requests.
